2022 Andrew Lewis Football 7th and 8th Grade Teams Important Dates

 

  1. Wednesday, May 18th – 6pm -8pm Physicals for ALMS athletes at Andrew Lewis Middle School.  Cost is $20 cash.  Anyone wishing to participate in athletics during the 2022 -2023 school year must have a completed VHSL physical dated after May 1st, 2022.  Football athletes will not be able to participate in summer workouts beginning Monday, June 13th until an updated physical is on file.  These workouts are important for the success of the individual athlete and to the team..
  2. Tuesday –Thursday June 7th -9th from 3:10 pm until 4:45 pm on the fields of Andrew Lewis Middle School (only time ALMS is used for a middle school football event) Football Clinic for all rising 7th and 8th grade athletes interested in playing football.  Please wear athletic shoes and clothing, we will work on football drills, positions, and organization.
  3. Football workouts begin on Monday June 13th at the Salem High School Fieldhouse from 9am until 10:30 am - every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday through the end of July.   We will lift weights (high reps and technique stressed), run on the SHS practice fields or SHS track and do some football drills.  These workouts are optional but highly recommended to prepare for August 1st when practice begins.  You must have a completed physical to participate in these workouts so get the physical on May 18th!
  4. Thursday, July 28th – equipment will be passed out the Salem High School Fieldhouse from 9am until 3pm.
  5. Monday, August 1st –Andrew Lewis Middle School Football practice begins (7th and 8th grade teams) at 8:30am and will last until 12:15pm (are having two practices each day). There is a break between practices.  All practices are held on the fields at SHS and our athletes will have a locker and dress in the SHS Fieldhouse.  We will practice every day except Saturday and Sunday and expect athletes to be at all practices (appointments and trips should be changed to avoid missing practice).  Absence from practice has consequences.  Likewise, during football season athletes are not allowed to play travel sports or participate on other sports teams.  Football season lasts until October 14th.
